After a long wait the Eureka Elks Lodge No.652 had a Officers meeting and initiation night of new members on Wednesday, June 17th. For health concerns all wore masks and except for the officer photo stayed a safe distance. Like everyone the members are hoping that they can get back to having entertainment and dances back at the lodge. We have received notice that we can open for dining. Friday June 5th, will be our first dinner. Come join us for Chicken Fried Steak!
Please remember:
- Members only
- Temperatures will be taken
- Sanitize your hands when entering the Lodge
- Mask must be worn while moving around
- Practice six foot social distancing
Food and Beverage available 2 p.m. top 7 p.m. daily
Friday Night Dinner 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Space is limited. Be certain to make a reservation by 12:00 noon on Friday.

Exalted Ruler’s Column – June 2020
To Our Members:
Many of you have asked me, “When are you going to open?”
The answer is — Our liquor license is through the State of California. They control when we can open. If we try to open early, it could cause us to lose our license.
When we open, things will not be the same for awhile. At this time, the new rules that have been put into place are:
- No guests.
- Hand sanitizer station and temperature checks at the front door.
- Face coverings must be used when not eating or drinking.
- Maintain social distancing.
- The bar must be closed until allowed to resume modified or full operation.
- Alcohol can only be sold in the same transaction as a meal.
- Parties can be seated together and do not have to be six feet apart. They must be seated at the same time.
- Drinks can be served at your table.
- No entertainment until allowed to resume modified or full operation.
- All dinners will be sit-down dining.
- No Cook Your Own Steak or salad bar at this time.
We hope these rules will be relaxed soon. As soon as we get approval from the state we will be putting out menus for Wednesday and Friday night dinners.
This Monday, June 1st, there will be a House Committee Meeting at 5 p.m.
This Tuesday, June 2nd, there will be a Board of Trustees Meeting at 6 p.m.
This Wednesday, June 3rd, there will be a Lodge Meeting at 7 p.m.

A Message from our Exalted Ruler
Exalted Ruler’s Column – March 2020
I know I have remarked before how fast time flies but wow this year is over. My year as the Exalted Ruler is just about over and it seems as though it only started a few months ago! As my year ends a new one begins. Kathy Payne, who is a stranger to none will be our Exalted Ruler. There are many new faces to join some of the “old” ones in the officer corps. Be sure to thank them for their service to our lodge. They are spending many hours every week practicing their script for the new roles they have taken on. These hours are in addition to the hours they will be spending monthly for lodge meetings. I’d like to thank everyone for stepping up and becoming involved in our/ our lodge. Wishing you a successful ritual contest and a great year.
I would like to thank everyone who assisted in in my year, my/our House Committee, Ernie Nunes, Brad Smith, Jim Olson, the Trustees and each and everyone of you made it a pleasure to be your Exalted Ruler. I want you all to know, if you don’t see much of me, it isn’t because I don’t want to be here. Keep us in your prayers! Love to all!

Deeds Not Words
Leading Knight – March 2020
The 2020-2021 fiscal year will begin on April 1st. Installation of the Lodge Officers will take place on March 28th and all members and guests are invited to attend. Installation will begin at 5:00 pm in the Lodge Meeting Room with dinner and dancing to follow. The band will be Midnight Special.
On March 15th I will be cooking my last fundraiser for the Purple Pig, a charity that assists handicapped children and others. The menu will be Pork Roast. Please bring in your purple pigs which will be counted that night.
In April the “Big 4” Night will be presented and all of the proceeds will be deposited to the Lodge
Maintenance Account. The Lodge is in need of interior painting, roof repairs, repairs to the BBQ area, and various other areas. If anyone has an item (or items) that would help in an auction, please call me at 834-6612.
My motto for next year is “Get ’er Done and Let’s Have Fun.”

PER Update – March 2020
The Past Exulted Rulers Association of the Eureka Elks Lodge was informed that our sister lodge Crescent
City Elks was in need of our help. The wheels were put in motion to organize a benefit dinner and fundraiser to support the Crescent City Lodge. The Eureka Elks Lodge came together and a fabulous Surf and Turf dinner event was held at our lodge on February 8th. The dinner was cooked by our own Kevin Christie along with kitchen crew volunteers. Many items were donated by the community for our auction items with one individual going above and beyond by handcrafting a beautiful quilt. A big thank you to Rachelle Koher.
Crescent City Lodge was represented by the ER Kevin Woodward and his officers along with Everett Young
and Tim Borges. The event raised over $4000.00 to aid the Crescent City Lodge. The PER Association of
Eureka also donated $250.00. The Great Heart of Elkdom is why we all belong to this great fraternal
organization and I’m very proud of our lodge.

Veterans’ Committee – March 2020
Greetings all Veteran Elks Members. We would like to take a moment to welcome a new Veteran member that has joined the lodge in January of this year. A big welcome to Elise Ashe. Thank you to everyone that came out and supported the Wild Game Feed last month. The Wild Game Feed is always a great success and benefits our Veteran events that we put on throughout the year.
The Eureka Veterans Committee is well on their way this year planning for a lot of up and coming events for 2020. This year the Eureka Veterans Committee will be hosting a “Seafood Feed” on March 14th. Social hour is at 5pm and dinner will be served at 6pm. If anyone would like to donate seafood for this event, please contact Kevin Christy at (707) 498-7312.
This year’s Veteran Car and Motorcycle Show will be on June 25th from 11-3pm. This is a Veterans event ONLY! Registration can be obtained in the lobby of the Eureka Elks Lodge and are also available for pick up at the Eureka VA Clinic from Kelly Stephens starting March 9th M-F 8 am to 4:30 pm. For those

Redwood Roamers – March 2020
The Roamers met on Wednesday, February 5th at the Lodge. Howard Ritter gave a progress report on the concrete pads for the RV Park. Thirteen contractors attended a pre-walk through of the RV Park on February 6th. Bids are due on February 14th with a completion date for the project on March 27, 2020.
Wayne/Shannon Ventuleth are planning our first outing to Vacaville on April 24-26; Doug McIsaac and Mickey Land are working on the Fort Bragg outing for April 30 – May 3; Howard and Karen Ritter have a “Do Nothing Weekend” planned for Klamath RV Park May 14 – 17; Joyce Radelich is heading the outing to Lewiston on June 5-7, which includes the Peddlers Fair; Hank and Mitzi Beck are excited about the Blue Grass Festival for McCloud on September 17-20; and the Benbow RV Park traditional Thanksgiving Dinner is in the planning stages for November 5-8. Larry and Connie Basquez are researching a trip back to Angels Camp and Daniel and Crystal Arbuthnot are looking at a trip to Oregon. Hopefully we will have dates by our next meeting.
Thank you to the Roamers, who have stepped forward to be Trailblazers, to plan our outings. Our next
meeting will be on March 4th at 4:30 pm at the Lodge.

Board of Trustees – March 2020
Greetings, Members.
Thank you to all of the Members who have stepped up and volunteered extra time from their busy lives and schedules to help out wherever needed, whether it be in the kitchen, dining room, Herd Talk, yard and landscaping, and general maintenance. Your efforts are very noticed, and your time is highly appreciated. A special thanks to the Members who helped cook, clean and serve crab for the two big events this year.
The annual budget process is underway for 2020/2021. The Board of Trustees, House Committee, and Officers have been working on this, and work will continue until presentation of the budget to the Membership in the near future. This will occur no later than the first meeting in April for presentation, and then final approval by the second meeting in April on the Lodge floor.
The RV Park reinforced concrete pad project – the Board of Trustees and the RV Advisory Committee have held on-site presentations with prospective, interested contractors, and have received quotes for this project. Sealed bids were received from nine bidders. All sealed bids were opened at the Trustees Meeting on February 18, 2020. A bid was accepted for construction of a selected number of RV pads and sizes. The bid was $69,500.00, which was accepted by the Board of Trustees and recommended for approval by the membership, was announced on the Lodge Floor Wednesday, February 19, 2020. Unanimous approval for acceptance was received from the Lodge Floor to accept the bid of RAO Construction. This completed the first phase of the approval process.
Special thanks to RV Advisory Committee, Howard Ritter, Board of Trustees, Trustee Pierre Carbonneau, Loyal Knight Scott Reinsmith, along with several other members of The Redwood Roamers for their work on the first phase of this project. The second phase is submitting this information and an application to Grand Lodge, which is in the process. There may be a final vote on this project on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 on the Lodge Floor.
The project will be proceeding, with more information to come back to the Lodge the first meeting of March.
The final draft of the RV Park manual has been posted on the bulletin board for review. Any questions, comments or concerns shall be addressed to the Board of Trustees no later than Tuesday, March 2, 2020. This was announced on the Lodge Floor on February 19, 2020.
A very special Thank You from the Board of Trustees to Bob Gish, outgoing Trustee. Your diligent service to the Lodge in the affairs of your position, and your dedication to the Members of Elkdom for the past two years is greatly appreciated.
Congratulations to our incoming five years Trustee, Gary Payne. Gary is a returning Trustee to the Board from previous years of service.
